Laundry Gallery
Laundry Gallery is a new art gallery in Parap that centres Aboriginal and Torres Straight
Islander art. Set in an old laundrette, the brief was clear – the history of the building was to be celebrated, while presenting a fresh new face for Darwin’s art scene. I refined a wordmark for Laundry Gallery based on the original hand-painted signage, and designed a type system to complement the shopfront.
The colour palette references a Larrakia sunset, the dry season sky and traditional black dye.
